There are two ways to install Google Chrome on Ubuntu or any Linux distribution built on top of Ubuntu. In this article, we will guide to install Google Chrome on ubuntu using both the ways which is via terminal and the GUI itself. Don’t worry if you don’t understand these terms.
Google Chrome is one of the most used browsers with the highest market share because of it being faster and having an overall pleasing UI that looks clean at the same time. Since Google Chome is closed source, you won’t be able to install it from the built-in software manager as it will only include ones that are open-source. Even though you can find Chromium, people just prefer original Chrome over it.
Of course, the most easiest and convenient way to make you ready for Linux would be using the terminal. It might look complex at the beginning, but it isn’t difficult and you will sooner or later get used to it.
Installing Google Chome using the Terminal Command line on ubuntu Simply copy these commands one by one per line and paste them into your terminal. You can open the terminal by pressing CTRL+ALT+T. And just copy and paste these commands one by one.
Sudo Apt Update
This will ask you to enter your password. Enter your password and you should be good to go. Don’t worry if it doesn’t show your password being typed because that’s just the default behavior of the terminal.
wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
That’s it. Google Chrome should be visible on your Menu and you can open it from there. In case if this was too complicated for you, you can also use the GUI method. GUI method refers to just using the graphical interface like what you were used to do in Windows. Since you are a beginner, this method can be really helpful to you.

Why you Shouldn’t use Google Chrome on Linux?
A lot of people Google Chrome on Linux just for password management since it completely synchronizes all your passwords across all your devices and provides a browser to use too. That should be weird. But the very main issue with Google Chrome includes it being closed source and lacking hardware acceleration. Hardware acceleration can provide an improved experience if your browser supports it. Sadly, Firefox is only the popular browser on Linux which supports Hardware Acceleration. Its good to keep using Firefox since most Linux users just keep loving it.
While if you don’t want to shift, you can still keep using Chrome and install it from the method mentioned above.
However, if you are not using Google Chrome for password management, you should also try the Brave browser built on chromium which means that Brave looks and offers a clean UI (User-Interface) exactly like the one on Chome and enjoy a much faster internet experience. Something to note is that even Brave doesn’t support hardware acceleration. But it blocks ads and trackers which makes it a bit better than chrome. And with the latest coming updates, they also seem to introduce password syncing across multiple devices.
